FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
This past season was a wonderful year in which so many outstanding musicians were involved in both major concerts. We had quite a venture with Godspeed, our commissioned work for the 400th Anniversary of the founding of Jamestown. We are excited at the prospect that this work is not finished. Several more movements are planned and our relationship with the composer, Dr. Deen Entsminger will continue. Working with the Harris Simon Trio was a highlight. And always, sharing the stage with our pianist, Christine Niehaus, is a delight.
REJOICE AND SING! Voices and Strings, the Winter Concert, will be presented on November 30, 2007 at Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg. The music will reflect a spirit of thanksgiving, praise, and rejoicing. The first section of the concert will feature voices and strings. The Magnificat, a beautiful work by the great Italian singing teacher, Niccola Porpora, was composed specifically for a girl's orphanage choir. It has been performed by outstanding women's choirs in the United States. We will perform a variety of works which will celebrate the seasons from Thanksgiving through Christmas and Hannukah.
MAGIC, MUSIC, AND MYSTERY is the theme of the Spring Concert scheduled for April 19 and 20, 2008 at the Kimball Theatre. Familiar repertoire will delight listeners along with exciting new works. We will feature Five Hebrew Love Songs by the American composer, Eric Whitacre. Broadway and folk tunes will tell the story of the magic and mystery of the most essential element of living.....the relationship of love in all its dimensions.
The Williamsburg Women's Chorus continues to strive for excellence and to offer the finest in choral literature. We are grateful for the support of the community and surrounding areas.
We are delighted to offer information concerning membership in the Williamsburg Women's Chorus.
